Conspiracy Theorists

This post is directed towards those conspiracy theorists that believe the world as we know it is coming to an end in the near future. If you are not a stranger to the internet, you have seen these people, sometimes you run into them in real life. These people have a very interesting mentality. I was watching this blogTV show that was hosted by one of these people. The majority of his show consisted of him rambling about how great Toyota trucks are for off-roading. He goes from that, to THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END SOON AND YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED. It takes a strange mentality, in my opinion, to go from bullshitting about trucks, to the world coming to an end in the next few years.

I believe I have a good bead on these people, and why they compartmentalize in this way. They are like the religious, now not all of these people are religious, but there is a great amount of overlap. Now, what does this tell us? Well, first of all, it tells us that these people will believe things without demanding concrete evidence. I'm not claiming that all gullible people are religious, and I'm also not claiming that I can know for a fact that the world "as we know it" is not going to come to an end in a few years. I am simply pointing out that these people will believe a story that is interesting as opposed to using skepticism. One of the conspiracy theories is that in 2012, the majority of the power in the United States will be knocked out, and this will cause the country to fall into anarchy. Let's humor this theory for a few moments, because there is some evidence to suggest that this could happen. I fail to see the connection between this and the WORLD COMING TO AN END and the ILLUMINATI TAKING OVER THE WORLD WITH THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!! If we had a mass power-outage, it would cause a lot of problems. There may be rioting in some areas, but most places in the country would be fine, and the power would be back up in a matter of days or weeks. I lived in northern New York during the 1998 ice storm. We didn't have power for like 3 weeks, and there was no anarchy, it was just a pain the in ass not being able to watch TV. To some of these conspiracy couch-potatoes, this may sound like THE END OF THE WORLD.

Let's even pretend that there was a group of people that did want to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. Does it matter what they want? I don't really care how much money they have, getting nearly 7 billion people to go along with it is impossible. Do these people actually believe that the most powerful military in the world (United States) would go along with the NEW WORLD ORDER? We can barely get along with the rest of the world, and we obviously can't control the entire world, how would some secret organization find a way to do it?

Are there some rich and powerful people that belong to secret organizations in the world? Sure, but let's be realistic, these people love the existence of the lower majority, they are what made them rich and powerful in the first place. Teabaggers and their paranoia are a bigger threat to our society than any secret organization could be.

If we have learned one thing from our history it is that the world is only a few years away from ending, and that in this context there are two types of people:

-the people that have power
-the people that want power

The people that have power typically always want more. The people that don't have power often are jealous of those that do, and if they had that power, they would behave no better (Obama doing a lot of things he badmouthed Bush for doing). The jealous masses often attack those with the power (French Revolution) and bring them back down to Earth. As a species with a life span of around 100 years or so, we should not be worried about the end of the world and dying. It's almost as if people like living with a fantasy-created-anxiety in order to escape the reality of their boring, insignificant, lives.

Once we are all dead (no more than 80-90 years from now) will any of our worrying matter? In-fact, I would rather die of some historically catastrophic event, than to die laying in urine soaked sheets in a nursing home. As far as the human species I am biased towards dreading its end; either way, it will end eventually, we should enjoy the ride while we can. That being said, I can say with confidence that, like all the 1,000s of "potential" Armageddons in our past, the world is not coming to an end in the next few years.

  1. Well, I understand where you're coming from. It does sound a little farfetched to think that a small group of people control an astounding proportion of societies, or the world. And sure, it sounds paranoid. I don't think the world is going to end, what I do think is that there are some power-hungry people with a lot of money out there that want total control over us, hence the notion of RFID chips being implanted into almost anything nowadays. That notion also becomes evident when you consider the free trade agreement that was enacted in 2005, if my memory is correct, so that the US, Canada and Mexico can trade without tariffs. IMO, it doesn't matter who gets along with who when it comes to global control; power-hungry shadowbankers, or whatever, want to get as much power/money as possible. It doesn't matter if one country doesn't like another one; if you look at history, when one country doesn't agree with another, war is waged, and civilians are killed until their country complies with the other. Just like when China didn't want to have opium imported into their country, they got their ass kicked when they refused, to say the least, and the British got what they wanted in the end.

"[...] The English, despite Lin's eloquent letter, refused to back down from the opium trade. In response, Lin threatened to cut off all trade with England and expel all English from China. Thus began the Opium War.

    The War
War broke out when Chinese junks attempted to turn back English merchant vessels in November of 1839; although this was a low-level conflict, it inspired the English to send warships in June of 1840. The Chinese, with old-style weapons and artillery, were no match for the British gunships, which ranged up and down the coast shooting at forts and fighting on land. The Chinese were equally unprepared for the technological superiority of the British land armies, and suffered continual defeats. Finally, in 1842, the Chinese were forced to agree to an ignomious peace under the Treaty of Nanking." (Hooker, 1996)

    That's just what I think, though >w<
