Here, another example of God using the word 'us'.
Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"- Genesis 3:22
On a side note, I wonder where this tree of life is -- and this implies there is only one. Still, there should be thousands of immortal people walking around -- where are they at Christians? Even if there was only one, that would be HUGE news. Hell, even the immortal worms and insects would surely gather some attention.
know therefore this day, and lay it to your heart, that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. - Deuteronomy 4:39
And here we have another quote which contradicts genesis. Unless there are gods outside of Heaven and Earth -- then there would be no contradiction.

ReplyDeleteThis is what my research shows:
ReplyDeleteWhen Jesus was still alive, he used the Old Testament in his teaching. At the time, it was generally accepted that there were many other gods as well as the Christian god. However, of course Christians said that only their god was the highest and holiest.
Some 50 years after Jesus' death, his disciples decided to write documents about his life and teaching. In these documents, the concept of "the only one and absolute god" started. Not all of the writers had the same view, however many did. Later - around the 4th century - some 27 of these documents were selected by a church committee (by voting, not by any religious or any supernatural process) to be combined together to form the Bible we know today. Those sat in that committee believed in the concept of the one-and-only god.
However, being human they must have overlooked a few small details about the existence of other gods in those documents.
