APB #5: Pat Condell on Islam and 'left-wing pricks'

Left-wing pricks...gotta love to hate them ('hate' too strong of a word?).  Political correctness is the enemy of free speech (free speech rights are pointless if we can't offend someone). It seems that 'left-wing pricks' want to create a nerf-world for everyone to live in. Left-wingers claim to want to change the world so that it is a better place—but things cannot be improved unless some people get offended. All political correctness does is perpetuate hatred by not letting it settle itself out. A person should be free to communicate their ideas freely, no matter how controversial (unless the intent is to cause physical harm to others).

I believe most atheists are on the same  page when it comes to protecting freedom of speech, but I'm sure some have been brainwashed to fight against it (as with nearly all groups). People need to grow thicker skin.

It's disgusting that people use a belief system to justify rape. It's not very controversial to claim that rape is one of the worst crimes a person can commit, and I believe warrants the death penalty (which shouldn't be controversial).

Political correctness is terrible in that it goes against freedom of speech. The purpose of free-speech is so that people can speak their minds—regardless if it offends. A religion is just a set of beliefs, why should it be immune to criticism?

On Blogger I am very tentative about posting things about Islam out of the fear of getting banned. And when I do post up things about Islam, I tend to put up a disclaimer ("not all Muslims are like this", etc.).  Political correctness is the enemy of free-speech. Imagine if atheists got the same PC protection?

Pat Condell on Osama Bin Laden

For Muslims to claim that what we did to Osama Bin Laden is an insult to Islam is to infer that he represents Islam - no sane Muslim would support Osama Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden got way more respect than he deserved (you know, by shooting him in the eye and dumped his body into the water). I like Mr. Condell's idea, shame we didn't go with that one... now that would have given some resolution.
