Frank Schaeffer calls Fundamentalist Christians Village Idiots

I agree with this guy in the sense that fundamentalist Christians are 'insane' and they are for sure the village idiots of this country, along with the fundamentalist Muslims. As a Christian is he wrong, however; to claim to be Christian you need to follow what the Bible says, not extract the "teachings" that support the way you wish to live. It's like claiming to fitness trainer and being morbidly obese, if you can't walk the walk, don't talk the talk. Fundamentalist Christians are walking the walk in respect to what is written in the Bible much closer than your average fake-believer. But, for this guy to insult more devout followers of his own religion is hypocritical. It's like claiming to be the most rational murderer, frankly I don't care, murder is murder, and being a Christian is being a Christian. I don't care how rational a person claims to be about beliefs as irrational as virgin births, miracles, etc etc (you can't have your cake and eat it to). Being a "moderate" Christian only means that a person believes in irrational things, but is too lazy to follow them, in what way does that make a person superior?  I have no idea, but the majority of Americans seem to think it does...
