ForaTv: "Kids Today: How Does 10,000 Hours of Video Games Affect Development?"

Gaming is part of a person's real life, not an escape (just like any other hobby e.g. golf and fishing). It is something that people do to unwind, our biggest problem is that we as a society worry too much about our problems. Our society has too much of a "go go" mentality. Kids are overly stressed, and they are looking for escapes, video games are one of the best ways of doing this. People in general need to find fun things to do with their time. Workaholicism is a much bigger problem, firstly because it is promoted as being a good thing (at least in the United States), and secondly because it causes people to be less productive than they would ordinarily be.

Workaholicism causes excess amounts of stress hormones to be put into the blood. Certain amounts of stress hormone can make a person more productive, but too much makes them much less (old timers don't believe in the science behind this). These kids are not running away from their problems, they simply don't wish to constantly stress out about them. It doesn't matter how much a person "faces" their problems, their problems will always be there, and it is important to have a good way to unwind from them; video games are a great way of doing that.

Excessive worrying is the cause of so many problems in society; not only is it not being addressed at all, but society as a whole seems to promote it. An enjoyable life is a productive life.
