Al Qaeda Populating U.S. With Peaceful 'Decoy Muslims' ?!

If you are offended by this video, you have a poor sense of humor (and sarcasm). This video is obviously satire to point out the irrational fear of all Muslims. Moderate Muslims should not be feared, and I believe the vast majority of Muslims in the United States are moderates. Hell (npi), fundamentalist Christians have been known to be dangerous/offensive, just look at the Westboro Baptist Church (they picket soldiers' funerals with signs like "thank God for dead soldiers" etc.

With that said, I do think that certain beliefs do not mix well inside a secular society, luckily we have a constitution to keep such people in check (not naming names of course). For example, Mormons are not allowed to engage in polygamy, they had to give that up to live in this country (well, unless they live on a secret compound).

As long as everyones' rights are protected, everything will continue on like clockwork in the United States; as FDR said: "we have nothing to fear but fear itself".

Onion News: Snowy Conditions Proving Hazardous For Nation's Idiots

Reminds me of this kid that was walking around with only a tee shirt on during a blizzard. Natural selection is still at work!

Tina Brown, Andrew Sullivan, and Jeff Jarvis Talk Online Privacy and Brett Favre's Penis

I'll admit to a few childish giggles while watching this; for a few moments I thought I was watching The Onion (fake news comedy). Anyways, they make a few good points, along with a few bad ones. First of all, Facebook is (in my opinion) a good thing long term; however, for the traditional socialization experience, it is very destructive. Many old-timers see any radical change as being bad, but I don't feel it is. People put on a facade in-front of almost everyone they come in contact with anyways, it's only natural that they would do it on a social networking site; i.e. virtually everyone is faking it.

AA Destroying The Social Lives Of Thousands Of Once-Fun Americans

Yes, The Onion is a fake-news program.

<rant>

AA (alcoholics anonymous) is an organisation which has good intentions, but fails at having a positive impact in most cases (in my opinion). One of AA's biggest problems is that they see alcohol consumption as a black and white issue. The focus should be on teaching healthy-moderation along with exploring the reasons for the alcohol abuse among its members. To treat all of its members as if they have the same problem is only misleading people into believing that Alcoholism IS the problem instead of a symptom (misguiding people over the cause of their problems makes their problem even harder to deal with). Alcoholics are typically people who have deep-down problems (so 'deep' they may not even know what it is) that use alcohol as an escape.

AA are bad at what they do because they focus on treating a symptom of a problem instead of addressing the root-cause. The point here is that if the initial problem is dealt with, then the person will no longer drink to self-medicate—the former alcoholic will drink recreationally instead of as a piss-poor coping mechanism.

AA uses a fear-mongering religion along with a demonizing paranoia of alcohol to "cure" people of a symptom.

I'm not saying that people with alcohol problems should not seek help, however when dealing with  behavioral/psycological problems, a psychologist and/or therapist should be used instead of a religiously-driven cult.
