The problem with this documentary is the lack of evidence. Sometimes there are dots that shouldn't be connected. These people see aliens in everything, in a similar way that some see God in everything. Have aliens visited this planet before? Perhaps, but there is no hard evidence proving it. These people assume that our ancestors were stupid... "how could they do these amazing things". I think that a much better explanation for some of the unexpected levels of knowledge and technology can be attributed to human civilization getting to high points, and then collapsing several times. We see our particular run at it as being around 6,000 years to get us to this point, yet humans have been around for 200,000+ years. I would imagine within that much time, humans would do some pretty amazing things. Considering that it took an estimated 6,000 years for our society to evolve to the point it is now; that would allow for 33 separate rises and falls within the 200,000 years.....think about it (a rise could conceivably happen faster if religion was not as strong of a force to stifle science).
Perhaps it is the nuclear age we are in now; will humans last another 100 years with this much tension with nuclear weapons? The Romans said that society has risen to high states and fell many times over. Perhaps even the "aliens" could have been advanced humans visiting the primitives (like the pacific islanders worshiping bamboo planes after WW2). I suppose my main problem with this documentary is that the people, when presented with a mystery, automatically jump to the 'aliens must have done it' conclusion.
While this series is interesting, keep an open mind about it. Don't let a self-confirmation bias get the better of you.
Just watched an episode. I was shocked that the history channel would fund such garbage. Where was the archeologist's balance? It seemed to be just crackpot 'authors' giving their one sided assumptions.
ReplyDeleteMany of the points made in this review are points made in the actual series itself. The point that aliens could have just been "advanced humans visiting the primitives" is a perfect example. This can only prove that you did not watch the entire series and therefore lack the very basic credentials to construct a proper review of it.

ReplyDeleteIn your opinion. Thanks for stopping by :)
The show is biased to the nutty pseudo-historians, and fails at presenting an unbiased show on the subject. I'm sorry I crushed your nerdy fantasy. It can't be denied that the Ancient Aliens series is not very scientific, The History Channel has become rating whores. I do like a few of their shows, but they really should rename their channel.
By the way, there is a reason they don't teach about aliens in history class, and it isn't because of some conspiracy. Extraordinarily claims require extraordinarily evidence. I think you have watched enough Star Trek, get some sun :)
ReplyDeleteYour review brings up some vary good points, some of the mystery's they present are extraordinary and really can make you raise an eye brow; though I agree with you that they at times bring up some vary far fetch ideas I think the series was self aware that many of these mystery's probably have other logical explanations. The series had also brought up a mix bag of commentaries that ranged form crack pots too some ligament experts on matter of biology and archeology, though on more reliable evidence. Yes it is true this show is vary biassed, but really what were you expecting? I mean no one is ever not biassed and if you think your not you really are. I say give the series a watch with a open mind, but play the devil's avocet on each subject they bring up.
ReplyDeleteAs an athiest myself I have always found it more likely that the polytheistic religions of old are much more credible than the mono religions of modernity.
ReplyDeleteIF: There is any truth in the old books then we must look at them from a modern perspective and like it or not as a rational person, you would have to say that talk of 'gods coming from space on chariots' can only be interpreted as aliens from other planets.
The show has a lot of credible academics in it discussing mysteries on this earth such as Göbekli Tepe in Kurdistan, dated as being created older than our oldest known civilisation. It brings into question huge discrepancies in mainstream historians time limes. It is by analysing these discrepencies that you will find the truth.
The show has the leading names from the area in it and is presented well. There is a lot of fact which the speculation comes from.
Bad review the show has good evidence.. The question is, "Is the evidence real? or is it just entertainment to make money? How can ancient egyptians build structures that modern mad cant build? even with all the technology we have?" There are plenty of books before the bible that are kept secret, im sure the answers are in there. I like the show it makes christions upset lol im not religious by the way
ReplyDeleteI mean "Christians" lol..... (LAST SENTENCE)
ReplyDeleteFirst you say: "Bad review the show has good evidence"
ReplyDeleteThen you say: "The question is, "Is the evidence real?"
My review is just fine, but your understanding of how evidence works, well...needs some work.
