O'Reilly Debates The Benefits Of Intoxication On Humans

I dislike how they just say "drugs", without being specific. O'Reilly won this debate only because the other guy didn't provide any great points for why 'intoxication' is a good thing for humans. Humans, I feel, seek after "drugs" for a few reasons...

1). curiosity
2). need a break from stress
3). enjoy feelings of euphoria
4). improving the self (mind and/or body)
5). improved self-reflection
6). change of perspective to gain out-of-the-box knowledge.

I believe that drugs are a problem for society (at least for the moment). The drugs that people use oftentimes are very dangerous. What we should be doing now is researching why certain drugs have certain effects on the mind, and why people find those effects desirable. If this could be heavily studied, perhaps less dangerous mind-altering chemicals could be put out that wouldn't cause problems like the majority do.

There is something very important to mind-altering drugs, they should not all be lumped into one group as being bad for you—but at the same time they should be properly respected.

The mind is a very very important thing for humans, and stressing it out with all the nonsense our society places on it is not healthy for it either (watching FOX "New" probably is more damaging for the mind that weed is).

We put crap into our bodies all the time—like when we eat processed foods/fast foods—many of these are just as unhealthy as many of the drugs being referred to in this interview.
