Christians often exaggerate their certainty about God. Okay guy, what is God? Describe him, I want to know all about this being that you claim to know so much about, all ears :D
Just because a person believes something, doesn't make it true outside of their own mind. There are people that believe astrology is the true (as an example). Watch me do it....
I know that there are cosmic gnomes that created that universe, why can't anyone else see this truth?
Deep-down most Christians fear their own atheism. If the atheist world-view is right, that is incredibly corrosive to the Christian (or Muslim, Jewish, etc.) world-view. The internet has exposed Christians to atheistic ideas, before they had none, and it really took no faith to believe in God (most people around were Christians, and didn't talk about the "big questions" very often). Claiming to know God exists is admitting that you wish you could have that kind of certainty because mere faith is not enough. For some people belief is all that gives them hope, i.e. all that gets in the way of their incredible fear of death. If the fear of death is removed (which isn't easy) then most people wouldn't go through all that they do to maintain views that aren't true.
